Tails are wagging at the NDCS Central Office where non-profit group, Domesti-PUPS out of Lincoln and its four furry friends visited employees. The service dogs are trained for therapy use, service for people with disabilities, and can also be trained for rescue.

"This is an event that people here look forward to," said Sara Sump, one of the coordinators of the event. "These dogs make a huge positive impact on employees here and it's heartwarming to see so many people having fun with them."Read more

Claps and cheers filled the Staff Training Academy’s gymnasium as 25 Nebraska Department of Correctional Services professionals walked up to receive their certificates for completion of an intensive six week program.

Staff Training Academy class 1718 graduated from pre-service training on February 7th, 2019.

A diverse variety of professionals such as Registered Nurses, Corporals, Food Service Specialists’, and Caseworkers came together over the past six weeks to begin their careers with NDCS.

In the Spotlight: Unit Case Manager Tracy Donovan

With hard work and dedication to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services' (NDCS) mission to keep people safe, Community Corrections Center - Lincoln Unit Case Manager (UCM), Tracy Donovan is in the spotlight this week.

"She's fun to work with and is motivated to come to work every day," said Kimberlie Novotny, unit manager at Community Corrections Center - Lincoln.

UCM Donovan started her career with NDCS in June 2015 as an officer at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institute (TSCI).

She was promoted to corporal in November 2015.

She then spent time as an acting caseworker in February...Read more

Smiles reaching ear to ear are seen on babies, toddlers, kids, high schoolers, moms and dads and other family members.

Family Fun Day was held at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) in late December 2018 to give incarcerated individuals and their loved ones time together to connect as a family.

These opportunities help keep relationships strong and are beneficial for the children, family members and the individuals living at NSP.

Families got a chance to play games, shoot basketballs, sit and chat, and more.

Gathered around her, on her final day of an impressive career are co-workers who've turned into true friends over the years and family.

"I've had a great 20 years here," said Ann, a secretary working in Programs at the Nebraska State Penitentiary.

A beach-themed cake and party decorations fill the room as her husband, children, grandchildren and group of employees wish her well in retirement.

"The people are all great people," said Ann.
