ADA/Accessibility

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services has a long history of commitment to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and has employed a dedicated ADA coordinator since 1994. The ADA coordinator manages all aspects of compliance for the following groups of people:

Applicants

  • Accessible pre-employment testing and interview locations
  • Reasonable accommodations during application, interviews and post-offer testing

Employees

  • Accessible worksite
  • Reasonable accommodations on the job and during training
  • Utilization of FMLA leave concurrent with ADA accommodations
  • Return to Work after injury or illness with temporary duty opportunities

Incarcerated Individuals

  • Access to programs, services and activities
  • Auxiliary aids for effective communication

Visitors

  • Accessible facility visiting areas
  • Auxiliary aids for effective communication

Volunteers

  • Accessible facility event space
  • Reasonable accommodations during training
