Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC), hosted a Graduation and Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, December 18th. Twenty-three inmates were recognized including five GED graduates, for their completion of non-clinical, educational, and ancillary programming. Friends, family members and volunteers were invited to share in the festivities which included a delicious meal prepared by LCC’s food service team. Deputy Director of Programs Dawn-Renee Smith and LCC’s Religious Coordinator Jeff Miller shared words of encouragement and inspiration as the Guest Speakers. The event was very uplifting and enjoyed by all.

LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts, in accordance with an executive order from President Donald J. Trump, announced that state buildings will be closed and teammates will be granted a day of leave on Christmas Eve which will be observed on Monday, December 24, 2018.

State law provides that whenever the President gives federal employees paid time off, the State of Nebraska shall grant the same benefit to state teammates. IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Officer Brian Waldecker checks in another team member's supplies at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC). Waldecker has been with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) since 2013. As the front entrance and turnkey officer, his main job duty is to provide security to the front entrance of the facility. Waldecker said that he enjoys his job because he gets to interact with all staff from different divisions every day.
