NDCS staff member tests positive for COVID-19

April 28, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that a staff member at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff member is employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). That person is self-isolating at home.

NDCS staff members injured in assault

April 28, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate assaulted two staff members at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) shortly after 9:00 a.m. on April 28, 2020. Both members sustained serious* injuries.

April 26 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that a staff member at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Inmate dies at hospital

April 8, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Cary Rehbein #35084, age 76, died at the hospital shortly after 10:00 a.m. on April 8, 2020. He was incarcerated at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). Rehbein’s sentence started on June 13, 1983. He was serving a life sentence out of Douglas County for first degree murder.

All NDCS staff to wear masks on the job
