NDCS inmate tests positive for COVID-19

May 18, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that an inmate assigned to the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O) tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). That individual was identified as a close contact of another inmate who tested positive for the virus, and has been under quarantine.

NDCS staff member tests positive for COVID-19

May 16, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that a staff member with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff member is employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). The person is self-isolating at home.

NDCS inmate tests positive for COVID-19

May 16, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that an inmate assigned to the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O) tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). That individual went to the hospital for unrelated medical issues and was tested upon admission.

Inmate pronounced deceased at hospital

May 15, 2020 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – Ryan Lykens #76263, age 36, was pronounced deceased at the Johnson County Hospital at 1:15 p.m. on May 15, 2020. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital after being found unresponsive in his cell a short time earlier.

Lykens, was incarcerated at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). His sentence started on August 6, 2012. Lykens was serving a sentence of seven...Read more

Second inmate tests positive for COVID-19

May 15, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes provided a summary update on the management of the coronavirus (COVID-19) within the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). NSP inmates negative for COVID-19
