Frakes announced that NDCS Deputy Director for Health Services Dr. Harbans Deol has been appointed chairperson of the American Correctional Association (ACA) Health Care Committee. February 2, 2017 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – An inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) assaulted a staff member yesterday, February 1, 2017.

The inmate struck the staff member one time in the head with a homemade weapon (blunt object). The assault occurred at approximately 6 p.m. in a housing unit. Other staff in the area used physical force to subdue the inmate and stop the assault.

January 23, 2017 (TECUMSEH) – Floyd Derry (78), inmate # 46237, died on January 21, 2017, at approximately 5:20 p.m. at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.

Mr. Derry had been incarcerated November 22, 1994, and was serving a sentence of 48 years to Life for 2nd degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony out of Deuel County.
