June 15, 2017 (Lincoln, Neb.) – One group at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) is filling totes with generosity – approximately 30 pounds of aluminum generosity.

The Mexican Awareness Through Association (MATA) club is collecting pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which houses families of children receiving out-of-town medical treatment. June 13, 2017 (Lincoln, Neb.) –Director Frakes is pleased to announce the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) the implementation of a new reentry strategy focused on health and wellbeing. June 8, 2017 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – At approximately 4:15 p.m. today, inmate Dillon Martin #74954 attempted to escape custody while returning to the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) from a court appearance in Lancaster County this afternoon.

June 8, 2017 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) provided an update on the collection of DNA samples in accordance with state statute.

In February 2017, NDCS implemented changes to the procedures to collect DNA samples and the consequences to be imposed when a sample is not provided. At the time, 78 individuals had refused to provide a sample. Since that time, however, the number of refusals has decreased and is currently 13...Read more

June 7, 2017 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Daelan Lamere (22), 79082, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Bryan West in Lincoln.

Staff at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution were alerted to Lamere’s cell on May 27, 2017, where he was unresponsive and having difficulty breathing. He was taken to Johnson County Hospital via rescue squad; he was later transferred to West where he remained until his death on Tuesday.

June 2, 2017 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) announced that the agency will manage medical services at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) starting July 24, 2017. Correct Care Solutions (CCS), the contract provider for medical services at TSCI, recently sent a 60-day notice of contract termination to NDCS.
