Inmate dies at state penitentiary

February 4, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – James Hall #42486, age 63, died at 12:55 p.m. today at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). His sentence started December 18, 1997. He was serving a 10-year to life sentence out of Hall County for second degree murder.

Community corrections center inmate dies

February 4, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – A 21-year old inmate at the Community Corrections Center – Omaha (CCC-O) was taken to the hospital and declared deceased after being found unresponsive in his cell around 4:20 this morning.

Carmichael Elya #85388 began serving his sentence on March 6, 2017. He was serving six to 10-years on a charge of first degree sexual assault out of Sarpy County.

Missing inmates returned to custody

January 28, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate who went missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L) on January 17, 2020 has been arrested by the Norfolk Police Department. Jamie Bear #210013 was taken into custody at a residence early this morning. He is being held at the Madison County jail.

Inmate apprehended after escape from Work Ethic Camp

January 28, 2020 (McCook, Neb.) – An inmate was apprehended shortly after jumping the fence at the Work Ethic Camp (WEC) in McCook this morning. The escape occurred just before 9:30 a.m. Ryan Lykens #76263 (37) was taken into custody near the facility around 45 minutes later.

January 18, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L). Jamie Bear #210013 left the facility during the morning of January 17, 2020 for his full-time job, but did not return to the facility, as scheduled, in the afternoon.

January 15, 2020 (Lincoln, NE) – Raymond Daniels #82309, age 71, died today at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). His sentence started on June 1, 2015. Daniels was serving a 30- to 50-year sentence out of Cass County for the sexual assault of a child.
