Mail pilot program to launch at State Penitentiary

July 17, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – A pilot program will soon launch at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP), aimed at reducing the influx of drug-related contraband. All mail, including letters, cards, photos and other paper items, will be photocopied prior to distribution. The new process, which starts on July 20, 2020, will continue for 90 days.

NDCS staff members positive for COVID-19

July 14, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that two staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). One staff member is employed at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC). The second teammate is employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). Both individuals are self-isolating at home.
