NDCS inmate tests positive for COVID-19

August 28, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that an inmate housed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). As a result, three housing units at the facility are under quarantine while inmates are tested and contact tracing is completed.

NDCS staff members positive for COVID-19

August 26, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that two staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). One staff member is employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). The second staff member is employed at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC). Both individuals are self-isolating at home.

NDCS inmates test positive for COVID-19

August 17, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes, Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) announced that three inmates have tested positive for the coronavirus. All three individuals are housed at Phelps County Corrections. To date, 13 NDCS inmates have tested positive for COVID-19. Ten of those individuals have recovered.

TSCI inmate dies at hospital

August 16, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Larry French #88912, age 85, died at 10:25 a.m. on August 15, 2020 at Bryan West Medical Center. He was assigned to the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI).

French started serving his sentence on January 10, 2019. He was serving a six to 18-year sentence for a charge of first degree sexual assault out of Burt County.
