NDCS staff member positive for COVID-19

July 21, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that a staff member with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff member is employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). The person is self-isolating at home.

Mail pilot program to launch at State Penitentiary

July 17, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – A pilot program will soon launch at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP), aimed at reducing the influx of drug-related contraband. All mail, including letters, cards, photos and other paper items, will be photocopied prior to distribution. The new process, which starts on July 20, 2020, will continue for 90 days.

Inmate missing from community correctional facility

July 17, 2020 (Omaha, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O). Matthew Layman #89705 got into a vehicle following a support group meeting in the community on the evening of July 16, 2020 and did not return to the facility.
