November 23, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) Scott R. Frakes announced that an inmate in his 70s died today at a hospital in Lincoln. The inmate tested negative for COVID-19 when he was admitted to the hospital back in October. He was undergoing treatment for multiple medical issues. He recently tested positive for the virus.

Frakes announced that eight staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff members are employed at the following locations: Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (3), Omaha Correctional Center (2), Lincoln Correctional Center (1), Nebraska State Penitentiary (1), and the Central Office (1). November 20, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Alan Stack #210121, age 59, died this morning at Bryan Medical Center-West. He was incarcerated at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP).

Stack started serving his sentence on August 20, 2019. He was sentenced 120 years to life on charges out of Sarpy County that included second degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

November 20, 2020 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – Robert Ward #58491, age 70, died shortly before 10:00 a.m. today at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). His sentence started on April 18, 2003. He was serving a life sentence on a charge of first degree murder out of Dawson County.

November 20, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Three housing units at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC) have been placed on a combination of quarantine and medical isolation due inmates testing positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Swabs have been collected from more than 500 inmates over the past several days. Nearly 300 results are negative and 112 are positive. More than 100 results are still pending.

November 19, 2020 (Omaha, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O). Kabir Haywood #210807 left the facility this morning shortly after attending his parole hearing. His release was denied, but Haywood was scheduled for another parole hearing next month. The electronic monitoring device he was wearing was recovered near a hotel in Carter Lake, Iowa.
