October 2, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Tonya Hendricks (52), a corporal at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP), was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol on October 1, 2020 for unauthorized communication with a prisoner (Neb. Rev. Stat. 83-417).

She has been employed by NDCS since December 2019 and has only worked at NSP. Hendricks has been placed on suspension and was booked into the Lancaster County jail.

Frakes announced that five staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Three are employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). One is employed at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC) and another works at the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF).
