October 15, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that a staff member with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff member is employed at the Central Office. That person is self-isolating at home.

October 14, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate who disappeared from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L) on October 2, 2020 was arrested yesterday by the Omaha Police Department. Officers took Bailey Scruggs #86344 into custody around 9:00 p.m. last night. He faces new charges including theft by unlawful taking and criminal impersonation.

Scruggs started serving his sentence on September 6, 2017. He is serving five to eight years on charges out of Douglas...Read more

Frakes announced that four staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Three staff members are employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). The fourth staff member works at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC) and the agency’s Central Office. October 9, 2020 (Omaha, Neb.) – An inmate who left the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O) two months ago, was arrested today by the Douglas County Sheriff’s office. Matthew Saxton #210110 had been missing since August 1, 2020 when he failed to go to his job in the community. At that time, his last known contact was at a girlfriend’s home. He left after they had an argument.

October 8, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Hector Medina-Liborio, 35, died shortly after 7:00 p.m. on October 7, 2020 at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC). His sentence started on July 31, 2013. Medina-Liborio was serving a 35- to 50-year sentence for kidnapping and first degree sexual assault of a child out of Douglas County.
