Second Chance Pups

A new future awaits these dogs, and their trainers can be proud of the part they played in it. This month, six dogs graduated from Second Chance Pups. The program carefully matches canines from local shelters and rescues with individuals at the Nebraska State Penitentiary who train them in basic obedience, while providing human socialization and interaction with other dogs.

Through the process, these men learn valuable skills and provide a service that is truly life-changing for the dogs and the families who will adopt them. It’s a win-win-win for all involved!

VLS Applications DUE APR 10th

A reminder that applications for the next VLS grant cycle are due April 10! Our VLS partners play an invaluable role in successful reentry for many men and women in Nebraska. In fact, more than 9,400 individuals have received reentry support through the VLS program since 2015.

NSP Father-Daughter Dance

What a special time for these dads and daughters to build memories! This month Christian Heritage sponsored their annual Father-Daughter Dance at the Nebraska State Penitentiary. At this event, fathers are given an extra special opportunity to connect and bond with their children.

Meet a Reentry Specialist

Meet Reentry Specialist Tyler Ladd! His favorite part of the job is seeing families reunited as their loved ones reenter the community.

Ladd currently works with the Community Corrections Center - Lincoln population, but has also served at the Omaha Correctional Center, Reception and Treatment Center and Work Ethic Camp.

As a reentry specialist, his goal is to continue growing and taking every opportunity to learn.
