Intentional Peer Support (IPS) is a program that encourages individuals with similar life experiences to walk alongside each other in supportive relationships.

Spring may be right around the corner, but teammates at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) are celebrating the last days of winter with a soup and chili contest. There was a great variety to choose from like chili, Hungarian mushroom soup, and lentil curry soup. NSP teammates were invited to vote on their favorites — with a good ol’ taste test.

Meet Reentry Specialist Trisha Larkin! She shares that the most rewarding part of her career is knowing she has made a difference in a person’s life, no matter how big or small.

As a reentry specialist, she works with individuals at the Community Corrections Center - Lincoln (CCC-L) to bridge gaps by connecting them to the right resources and assisting them in developing quality reentry plans for a successful future. For anyone interested in this career path, she shares that the work requires organization, consistency, quality engagement, networking and a sense of humor!

Since joining NDCS in 2018 as a corporal, Sgt. Stuart has proven to be an effective leader who is willing to help new teammates become comfortable in their roles. He was selected for this award because of his work ethic, experience and daily job performance. Sgt. Stuart is also a valued member of the Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) and an excellent example of an engaged leader.

At NDCS, we’re always looking for ways to recognize team members who go the extra mile, and Nate Adams is one of those teammates!

As a maintenance specialist at the Reception and Treatment Center (RTC), Adams takes on new duties with a positive attitude, willingly assists other maintenance team members and is known at the facility as an excellent troubleshooter. Adams began his NDCS career in 2015 and has been a member of the Honor Guard for the past six years.

These reentry specialists – Tyler Ladd, Trisha Larkin and Todd Rosenthal – are a few of the amazing teammates who are part of the Reentry team. Reentry specialists work directly with individuals upon intake and as they near release. They assist in developing a comprehensive reentry plan that addresses all the things needed when re-entering the community, such as housing, transportation, employment and mental health support.

Reentry is the work of the entire agency, from social workers to unit staff and medical professionals. A big shout out to all who support this important work!
