February 3, 2021 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – An inmate assaulted a staff member at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 resulting in a serious* injury.

The assault happened after the staff member stopped the inmate upon leaving the dining hall, and directed him to dispose of food contained inside a pocket. January 28, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that nine staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Three staff members are employed at the following locations: Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (5), Nebraska State Penitentiary (2), Omaha Correctional Center (1), and the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (1). Frakes announced that four staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). January 23, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – David Harrison #36149, age 61, died the evening of January 22, 2021 at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). His sentence started February 1, 1985. Harrison was serving a life sentence for first degree murder out of Douglas County.

January 19, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Harold Wilson #37418, age 65, died on January 18, 2021 at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). His sentence started on October 17, 1986. Wilson was serving a 56- to 170-year sentence for first degree sexual assault, robbery, kidnapping and first degree murder out of Dawson County.

January 14, 2021 (York, Neb.) – The Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) is on quarantine status due to a recent uptick in staff members and inmates testing positive for COVID- 19.
