March 5, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate who left the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln on May 1, 2020 has been arrested by the Douglas County Sheriff’s office. Deputies took Allen Webster #210752 into custody March 4, 2021.

Webster began serving a two-year sentence on December 5, 2019 for possession of a controlled substance out of Douglas County. He had a tentative release date of July 11, 2020.

March 4, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L). Amanda Samaroo #99723 left the facility this morning to seek employment through a job service in downtown Lincoln. Shortly after 1:00 p.m., a tamper alarm went off on the electronic monitoring device she was wearing. When staff arrived at the employment service, they were told she had left. Samaroo did not return to the facility.

March 3, 2021 (Omaha, Neb.) – An inmate who left the Community Corrections Center – Omaha on November 19, 2020 was arrested last night by the Omaha Police Department. Officers took Kabir Haywood #210807 into custody around 8:00 p.m. near Fontenelle and Camden Avenue. He was booked into the Douglas County jail on a charge of escape.

Haywood started serving his sentence on December 16, 2019. He is serving three to five years for charges out of Douglas County that include...Read more

March 1, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that three staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff members are employed at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC), Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L) and the Central Office. All staff members are self-isolating at home.

February 26, 2021 (York, Neb.) – Niccole Wetherell #94369, age 40, died this morning at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW). Her sentence started June 28, 1999. Wetherell was serving a life sentence for first degree murder out of Sarpy County.

February 25, 2021 (McCook, Neb.) – Kerstan Slater, (29), a unit caseworker at the Work Ethic Camp (WEC) in McCook, was arrested today by the Nebraska State Patrol for unauthorized communication with a prisoner (Neb. Rev. Stat. §83-417).

Slater has been employed by the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) since October 15, 2018. She has only worked at WEC during that time. Slater resigned her position with the agency.

February 25, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – For an initial group of inmates at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP), it is moving day. Around one dozen men are relocating to a newly built 100-bed dormitory. In addition to sleeping quarters and a large day area, the minimum-security unit also boasts additional rooms to provide clinical treatment and other programs.
