The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is celebrating achievements made in meeting the needs and providing key services to those who are incarcerated and preparing for release. Governor Pete Ricketts issued a proclamation marking April 26 – 30, 2021 as Reentry Week in Nebraska.

April 24, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Should the need ever arise, parole officers and others will be able to respond immediately to opioid overdoses, thanks to a collaboration between the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) and the Nebraska Board of Parole. The agencies have updated their memorandum of understanding (MOU), allowing NDCS to acquire Naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, for use by staff members who work within the Division of Parole Supervision.

April 17, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that three staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Two staff members are employed at the Central Office. One staff member is employed at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). All staff members are self-isolating at home.

April 17, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L). John Mays #212428 did not return to the facility this morning following his shift at work. Staff members went to his place of employment and retrieved the electronic monitoring device he was wearing, which had been removed.

Mays sentence started December 2, 2020. He was sentenced to three years for charges out of Douglas County...Read more

April 16, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate who went missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) on April 15, 2021 was located today by officers with the Lincoln Police Department. Officers responded to a call from a citizen and found Dawnisha Leroy #392245 just after 2:00 p.m. She was returned to the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). Leroy disappeared yesterday after going downtown to seek employment through a job service....Read more

April 15, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L). Dawnisha Leroy #392245 left the facility this morning to seek employment through a job service in downtown Lincoln. The electronic monitoring device she had been wearing was recovered a short time later in an alley behind the job center.

April 11, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC) went to the hospital last night for the treatment of serious* injuries resulting from an assault by another inmate. The assault occurred before 10:00 p.m. in the cell shared by both men.

About 40 minutes prior to the assault, staff members interceded when both men became involved in a verbal dispute. Later, one inmate was seen assaulting the other and additional staff members were called...Read more
