Frakes announced that eight staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). January 19, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Harold Wilson #37418, age 65, died on January 18, 2021 at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). His sentence started on October 17, 1986. Wilson was serving a 56- to 170-year sentence for first degree sexual assault, robbery, kidnapping and first degree murder out of Dawson County.

January 14, 2021 (York, Neb.) – The Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) is on quarantine status due to a recent uptick in staff members and inmates testing positive for COVID- 19.

January 5, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Bryce Kummer #6666, age 62, died on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC). Kummer was placed with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) by Platte County for safekeeping.
