Friday, August 26th, is Corrections Staff Night at the Lincoln Saltdogs vs. Cleburne Railroaders game at Haymarket Park. Tickets for team members are $10 each. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. The NDCS Honor Guard team will be presenting colors before the game.

For those interested in a career with NDCS, there will be a booth with more information on open positions. Staff will also be handing out fans and flyers.

Development and Engagement Coordinator Lindsey Carter took the First-Level Leader program on the road this summer, holding a class at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). This cohort was comprised of teammates from TSCI and other NDCS facilities, and included Peru State College students who are part of the Corrections Leadership Scholarship Program.

Throughout the course, the group learned to develop a leader mindset, evaluate their emotional intelligence, utilize resources and establish their own professional development plan. Director Frakes spent time with the class as they developed leadership skills...Read more

Kudos to TSCI Warden Craig Gable and Shawn Sherman of Peru State College. They gave a great presentation at the summer Correctional Leadership Association Conference in New Orleans.

Attendees included corrections officials from across the nation. Gable and Sherman provided information about Nebraska’s unique partnership, which allows college students to pursue degrees in criminal justice, while getting hands-on experience in working inside a correctional facility.

Students who are enrolled in the program receive a scholarship and a stipend, plus the experience that would allow them to take on a management role...Read more

For these young men, July 26 is a day they will always remember. The Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF) commencement ceremony recognized sixteen graduates who received NCYF Community High School or State of Nebraska diplomas. The graduates worked hard to finish something that, in some cases, they started many years ago.

Since opening in 2008, the NCYF Community High School has seen 488 individuals graduate. Each has gained knowledge and tools to use as a foundation for success and to impact the lives of others.
