Intentional Peer Support Graduation

“We can’t be what we can’t see. Sometimes these young men need to see that. They need to see what change looks like.”

One of the graduates of the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) program shared this message with a full room at the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility IPS graduation ceremony this month.

Equipped with skills and training from the Mental Health Association of Nebraska, these graduates are eager to make a difference in the lives of those around them. NSP Softball Team

Having fun on the field is always the priority, but this group is also keeping their eyes on the prize! Now in their second season, the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) softball team is led by Corporal (Cpl.) Joshua Osienger.

This year, they took the mission of building relationships and team spirit among staff members to a new level, starting a coed team and a second men’s team. A total of 29 team members have joined the three leagues.

Individuals at the Nebraska State Penitentiary, the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women and the Reception and Treatment Center stood proud, watching their pups graduate as trained service dogs and take their place beside the person who will need their assistance in a variety of ways.
