This year, road crews at the Work Ethic Camp (WEC) have been assisting with many projects in the McCook community and throughout southwestern Nebraska. These crews are gaining job skills, while also helping to enhance community facilities.

Some of their projects this year included:

A new fenced-in dog park in McCook; Fish habitats that, in cooperation with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, will be placed at the bottom of five local lakes to support the fish population; Construction of a fence around the pickleball court at McCook’s Russell Park; Assistance to the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)...Read more

Each year, NDCS recognizes a teammate who does an exceptional job of bringing the NDCS mission to the community. This year, Lieutenant (Lt.) Dylan Dreher was selected for the Outstanding Ambassador Award. He not only supports operations at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW), but also takes the NDCS mission beyond the facilities as a part-time police officer for the community of St. Paul, Nebraska.

Annually, he provides security to the grounds, buildings, and outdoor attractions at the Nebraska State Fair. His presence helps ensure the safety of the fair experience for all attendees, taking the NDCS mission...Read more

Four NDCS teammates were among the graduates of the fourth State of Nebraska Governor’s Leadership Academy yesterday. Congratulations to all the graduates and a special shout out to Major James Francis, Major Jericho Johnson, Legislative Coordinator Alex Timperley and Director of Strategic Communications Dayne Urbanovsky.

Graduation is a special day to celebrate with family and friends, and a lot of hard work and commitment brings the class to this occasion! From searches to safety to emergency preparedness, this group spent the last six weeks of pre-service training taking a deep dive into the ways their work will support the NDCS mission.
