At NDCS, developing our people is a key part of our Strategic Plan. Whether it’s our in-house First-Level Leader and Leadership Academy programs, on-line training resources, or involvement in national organizations, it’s all about growing and becoming better leaders.

Congratulations to an outstanding member of our team: Recruitment Specialist Jess Wentling!

Jess is often behind the camera taking headshots of our new team members on their first day of training, and we’re excited to get to recognize her as the Central Office Team Member of the Quarter! As a recruitment specialist, she creates first-rate recruitment materials and represents the agency at career events.

Hats off to these graduates for a job well done! The Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF) commencement ceremony recognized five individuals with NCYF Community High School diplomas and one with a State of Nebraska diploma.

Since 2008, there have been 524 high school graduates from NCYF Community High School receiving their diploma in compliance with the requirements for our Rule 10 Special Purpose High School and many additional graduates completing their GED.

Celebrating 45 Years with the State of Nebraska! Please help us congratulate Annette Powers, administrative technician, for her amazing accomplishment and dedication to Nebraska. Annette has been a part of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services since 2005. Prior to that, she worked at Federal Surplus, NET and the Nebraska State Capitol building, where her career began.

During her tenure with the State, Annette has cultivated a tremendous amount of knowledge, skills and relationships. She’s an integral part of the Purchasing Division, and we’re grateful to have her on the team! #People

This has been a special week for our agency! Twenty team members completed training to successfully graduate from the SERVES school. As a part of the SERVES team — one of the NDCS special teams — they will take their new knowledge and skills back to their facilities to provide peer support, advocacy and resilience-building tools to staff and their families.

These team members have committed to being an active presence of support in their facilities and throughout the agency, providing resources and referrals tailored to various circumstances.
