This month, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Honor Guard joined corrections representatives from across the country at the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) Project 2000 XXXV Annual National Memorial Ceremony. This gathering recognized the men and women in the corrections profession who have lost their lives in the line of duty the preceding year and honored the bravery of those who survived an incident.

Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L) provides incarcerated individuals with meaningful work trajectories, as well as gaining eligible employment opportunities by partnering with outside organizations. Recognizing the potential of men and women reentering our communities as well as their desire to succeed after incarceration is pivotal as a part of our TRANSFORM Nebraska efforts.

Did you know? Canine programs can also be an important part of an individual’s rehabilitation. These programs use human-animal association and the disciplines involved in these connections to give positive gain in areas such as vocational skills, anger management, decision-making, responsibility and empathy.

Domesti-PUPS is a Lincoln-based organization that provides therapy dogs, service dogs, and obedience-trained rescue dogs. Individuals at multiple NDCS facilities partner with Domesti-PUPS to prepare these dogs for the fur-ever homes. #TransformNebraska #ProgramsRead more

Building a successful future starts with education, and these graduates should be proud of the significant milestone they’ve reached! The Nebraska State Penitentiary and the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women celebrated classes graduating with high school diplomas and GEDs this spring.
