A local church in McCook offers free clothing and household items to the surrounding community during a monthly giveaway. A group of participants from the Work Ethic Camp (WEC), volunteered their time and labor to set up for the giveaway. It takes over 25 tables, 10 clothing racks, and over 50 totes of items to set up this project monthly. Without the help of the WEC participants, this project would take days to set up but, with their help it only takes a matter of hours. The church members are grateful for the assistance!Read more

Congratulations to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) newest Crisis Intervention Conflict Resolution (CICR) instructors. They completed four and a half weeks of training and celebrated their graduation at Central Office. It was a great opportunity getting to learn and grow with each other. The instructors came from many different facilities across the state, and they are motivated to drive the program forward within our agency. Great work!Read more

Team Members at Work Ethic Camp (WEC) held a Survival of the Fittest workout competition. Twenty incarcerated men participated in a variety of physical challenges, including push-ups, pull-ups, triceps dips, a 300 yard shuttle run and a calisthenic leg workout. The final Challenge was the "Murph," a CrossFit challenge created to honor Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan on June 28th, 2005.

The Work Ethic Camp (WEC) held its 19th Thinking for a Change Class (T4C) in mid-November graduating 14 individuals. Classes 20, 21, and 22 are currently holding sessions and the 23rd class is preparing to start up! The WEC staff are working on a celebration for all T4C graduates once they’ve completed the 25th class at the Work Ethic Camp. Congratulations, guys!Read more

Several incarcerated individuals performed in the Residential Treatment Community talent show at Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) on November 28, 2018. This included individuals performing rap songs and motivational speaking! Great job, guys!Read more
