Tears were shed and laughs filled the room as the Water Walkers group at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women held a performance titled “Jungle Booked.”

The group demonstrated what it looks like when you always put good choices first.

The performance illustrated the life of a newly incarcerated individual and the different characters that one meets while incarcerated.

It described an epic tale of what dangers lie around every corner even when help is right in front of you.

NDCS Team Member Spotlight: Clinic Corporal Nate Adams

Starting a new job can be exciting. But it can also be a bit overwhelming sometimes, as you get adjusted to new rules and policies, new leadership and a new culture. For Clinic Corporal Nate Adams, he remembers how it felt to be ‘the new guy’ and get adjusted to the routine, incarcerated population and teammates. “There were a lot of different people to figure out.”

Four years later, Adams is still very happy going to work and is engaged in his career development at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC). “Overall, I love the job. I see myself here.”...Read more

The third cohort celebrated their completion of the RISE program last month at NCCW. The RISE program helps incarcerated men and women increase their chance of success upon release and contributes to lowering the recidivism rate. The Work Ethic Camp (WEC) recently held its Winter Games! This day-long event offers a variety of games and is an important programming opportunity for the men at WEC. It reinforces positive behavior, builds social skills and gives the men a chance to laugh and release stress. The men were able to participate in activities such as dad jokes, trivia, BINGO, pickleball tournaments and karaoke.Read more
