Congratulations to this group at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women for graduating from the Inner Circle program. The Inner Circle is a forum where incarcerated individuals meet to discuss their reentry needs and learn about reentry resources available within the NDCS facilities and in the community. These individuals were encouraged to develop reentry plans and learn about housing, employment, education, family/community support, mental health, transportation and other resources.

With COVID-19 restrictions relaxing across the department, NDCS team members recently celebrated with a BBQ at each facility. It was the first time that team members have been able to be around each other socially in nearly a year and a half.

At all facilities, lots of laughter and talking could be heard from team members as they celebrated all the hard work they performed during the pandemic. Not to be left out, separate BBQ events were also hosted for those incarcerated in each of the facilities.

In the latest class to graduate the Staff Training Academy (STA), three of the graduates are the first to complete STA as a part of the Corrections Workforce Development Pathways partnership between NDCS and Peru State College. This program provides $15,000 in tuition and a stipend annually to students who choose a career in criminal justice. While completing classwork in pursuit of a degree, students work as interns at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI).
