September 9, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L). Zackery Carlstrom #212038 left the facility early this morning, having jumped over a fence. Staff responded to his last known location, as indicated by the electronic monitoring device he was wearing, but neither he nor the device were located.

September 4, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Summer Brandt (46), a nurse at the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) and the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC), was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol Friday, September 3, 2021 for unauthorized communication with a prisoner (Neb. Rev. Stat. §83-417) and sexual abuse of an inmate (Neb. Rev. Stat. §28-322.01). Both are felony offenses.

September 2, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – In order to maximize available staff at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC) and the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC), those facilities will shift to a new operational schedule on Monday, September 13, 2021. The move will consolidate primary activity to four, 12-hour days – Monday thru Thursday.

August 31, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate who disappeared on May 1, 2021 from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) has been arrested in Evansville, Indiana. Authorities say someone called 911 and provided information leading them to the location of Michael Simmons #211242. He was taken into custody on Friday, August 27 and is being held at the Vanderburgh County jail in Indiana.

August 19, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate who went missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) last week, has been arrested. Members of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s office took Melvin Grimes #210461 into custody on August 17, 2021. He disappeared from CCC-L on August 12, 2021.

Grimes started his sentence on March 15, 2021. He was sentenced to two years for multiple counts of shoplifting out of Douglas County. Grimes has a tentative release date of December...Read more

August 19, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) has joined a distinguished list of correctional systems and programs across the United States, as the most recent recipient of the Lucy Webb Hayes award. NDCS Director Scott R. Frakes accepted the award on August 13, 2021 at the national conference of the American Correctional Association (ACA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

August 19, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Xavier Valentine #87758, age 22, died on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at a hospital in Lincoln. He was incarcerated at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP).

Valentine’s sentence started June 5, 2018. He was serving a sentence of 10 to 30 years for charges out of Douglas County that included second degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

Michael Louis #210577 was reported missing on the evening of Friday, August 13, 2021. He turned himself in at LCC this afternoon.
