NDCS Team Member Spotlight: Tracy Donovan

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Corporal Tracy Donovan conducts a sponsor class for potential sponsors for incarcerated individuals at the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L). Donovan has been with Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) since 2015. Her main job duties include monitoring inmate activities, conducting searches and supervising the administration porters. CJC Completes 63rd Restorative Justice Class at LCC

June 12, 2018

The Community Justice Center (CJC) completed its 63rd Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC Restrictive Housing) “Restorative Justice” Crime Victims Impact/Empathy (Life Skills) Class on June 7. One hundred percent of class participants rated the class excellent, with seventy percent showing some level of empathy and/or insight in the effects their actions had on their victims/community. A few participants of the class had this to say, "“It helped me see my inconsistencies in my actions and the lack of knowledge by whom I ultimately affected" as well as, “It helped me understand how I hurt others with my crimes.”

NSP celebrates Correctional Officers and Employees

To celebrate Correctional Officers and Employees month during May, food was served every week at Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). On May 23, chef salads were served as they celebrated and showed their appreciation of all who work in Corrections.

NSP External Garden Project

June 11, 2018

On May 16, Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) incarcerated individuals worked planting in the external garden, which is located adjacent to Housing Unit #8. Incarcerated workers are assigned to maintain the garden have planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, squash and beans. The vegetables will be harvested this fall and will supplement meals served to the NSP population.Read more

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Associate Warden Ed Fabian completes paperwork at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC). Fabian has been with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) since 1984. His job duties include overseeing all facility operations including maintenance, food service, records, accreditation and other divisions. “In Omaha rehabilitation is important because we’re a facility that’s one step away from going to community corrections,” Fabian said. “Helping them in a way that they won’t come back is very important.” #NDCSTeamMemberSpotlightRead more

Fourteen men graduate from T4C at LCC

Fourteen incarcerated men graduated from Thinking for a Change (T4C) at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC) on May 25. Participants reported that they learned skills to address problematic situation. One inmate commented, "I thought that I might not learn much in this class, but I learned to slow down my thinking so that I can process situations before reacting."Read more
