The garden at the Work Ethic Camp in McCook, NE, has had a bountiful harvest this year. Corporal Deb Swanson, with the help of 3 incarcerated men, planted a wide variety of produce including corn, cucumber, zucchini, tomatoes, watermelon, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, onion, chives and rhubarb. The produce gets put to use in the kitchen for special recipes like fried zucchini, cucumber salad and rhubarb crisp.Read more

The Foto Sisters provided an enjoyable and uplifting concert to the female population at CCC-L on Friday, September 27. Approximately 30 women attended the event in the men’s dining room. Jarell Roach was the MC for the evening and provided demonstrations about support systems and healthy relationships, as well as praying with those in attendance.Read more

For more than four decades, Warden Charlie West has been an instrumental part of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). Today, he retires.

West started his career out as a correctional officer in 1977. That’s the same year of the New York City blackout and the year Elvis Presley died. The average cost of a new house was $49,300 and a gallon of Gas was 65 cents. It was a different time then, but one full of endless possibilities for West.
