The second annual Water Walker’s Retreat was held at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) and facilitated by Records Manager Devon Davis.

Warden Angela Folts-Oberle has been a huge supporter of the group due to its positive impact for resident and staff rapport. The women meet monthly for spiritual guidance and to help others continue to be up-lifted and encouraged. Five incarcerated men graduated from Thinking for a Change (T4C) at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) on August 30, 2019. Secretary Michelle Decker and Quality Assurance Specialist Rusell Ogg instructed the 12-week course. T4C is a high-level cognitive behavioral program developed by the National Institute of Corrections that uses role playing to concentrate on changing the criminogenic thinking of offenders and addresses attitudes, behavior, family, friends and aggression.

As incarcerated individuals enter the Work Ethic Camp (WEC) in McCook, Nebraska they are greeted by inspiring messages in the intake hallway as they wait to be checked in. Warden Morello wanted it this way – to welcome them to their new home and reinforce positive messaging.

“We want them to know they’re not a number,” said Deanna Johnson, assistant warden at WEC. “These men will be our neighbors some day and we want the best for them as they work to improve their way of thinking.”Read more

The Excelorators Toastmaster club of the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) recently held their annual symposium. Several outside guests were able to attend the symposium and members had a chance to compete in a speech contest. This club continues to thrive with a number of active participants.

The Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) Job Fair turned out to be a great day thanks to 106.3 KFRX, all the great staff at NSP, good food, and some all around great weather. Applicants had a chance to talk to staff in person, interview on the spot, and take a facility tour.Read more

This annual, two-day summit is a world-class experience broadcast live to hundreds of satellite locations across North America bringing together more than 400,000 participants from 135 countries around the world.
