Thanks to anonymous donors, each teammate at Cornhusker State Industries who wore purple on a designated day during Epilepsy Awareness Month helped raise funds in honor of Sales and Marketing Manager Chris Mantzios’ son.

Chris and his wife Melanie are helping to save lives through supporting the Danny Did Foundation. The foundation educates families about epilepsy and distributes monitoring devices that can help warn of a seizure.

The Purchasing Team is integral to the mission of NDCS, especially this year when many supplies were needed in light of COVID. Despite that demand, the team has continued to focus on daily improvements. Each morning, members take time to review performance metrics and chart their progress. Taking necessary COVID precautions, the group keeps huddle time to a minimum. Even a brief meeting has its benefits.

Chris Kliment, assistant materiel administrator notes, “The time is great and short, but also will create discussion as to what is happening.”

Autumn Hester is one of the newest members of the purchasing group....Read more

Kudos to Ron TeBrink for receiving his Executive Green Belt! Ron works for NDCS in the IT Department -- and completed all of the required course work on Lean Six Sigma through the Center for Operational Excellence. Those tools help the agency identify projects that could use improvement or even produce cost savings. Ron was one of several NDCS teammates to receive a Green Belt in the past year. Congrats to all! #COEMonthRead more

Few may realize, that contractors and outside vendors help service the Nebraska State Penitentiary throughout the day. A recent effort by the NDCS Process Improvement Team led to improved communication and greater efficiency with those entities.

Initially, the various stakeholders spent time working together to understand each other’s perspective. Speaking about the team meeting aspect of the project, Sergeant Keith Elliot said, “It was a good forum for people to talk about their role in the...Read more

NDCS is very much a customer-focused agency. We are always looking for ways to make our processes better, especially inside our facilities. Projects result in greater efficiency, less waste, and increased savings.

We have a stellar team that helps with all that work. They identify and guide those projects from beginning to end (L to R, back to front): Shaun Grantski, Eric Spry, Taylor Jones, Eric Kasik and Alyssa Payton.

NDCS is fortunate to have great community support -- people who recognize the hard work carried out by our 2100+ teammates. Burlington Capital in Omaha is in that category. Just recently, they donated pen and pad sets to staff members, simply as a 'thank you.' We thank them as well.

The sets were handed out to team members in all facilities. At Central Office, members of the Process Improvement Team joined up with Employee Development and Engagement to make the deliveries.

Thank you again Burlington Capital for being a supporter of NDCS!

A nice show of support at the annual Blue Mass, honoring law enforcement, correctional staff and other community first responders. The event took place this morning at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ. Representatives from NDCS, including members of the Honor Guard attended today's service. The following teammates from NDCS were remembered: Mark Brennauer (LCC), Cynthia Kirby (DEC), Charles “Chip” Fullerton (CCCL), Gavin Hall (LCC) and Brady Sweetser (LCC).
