A few of the Nebraska State Penitentiary’s team members really shined during the Lincoln Marathon this month.

Corporal Jennica Martinez, Captain Darlene Warner and Sergeant Richard Lewis showed the importance of health and wellness both on the job and at home.

We’re grateful for the wonderful nurses who go above and beyond to display the NDCS values of integrity, respect, compassion, growth and excellence. They pull together and work as a team despite any challenges they face.

With some creativity and a vision in mind, paper can be transformed into something truly special. Men at the Work Ethic Camp (WEC) recently created three-dimensional flower cards to send to loved ones in honor of Mother’s Day.

Yesterday was a special day for these men and those who have supported them along the way.

At the Nebraska State Penitentiary, nine individuals earned their General Educational Development (GED) certificates and one received his high school diploma. Family members were invited to join for the celebration of this accomplishment.

Each graduate had a unique journey towards completion and Principal Susan Harder commended the men for their dedication to this goal.

Education is vital to improving lives and reducing recidivism, making teachers an invaluable resource at NDCS. As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we thank all of our educators who contribute to bettering those in our care at NDCS.
