IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Reentry Support Specialist Sindy Baldwin hands out fans and talks to a little girl at the recent corrections night at a Saltdogs game at Haymarket Park. Baldwin began her career with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) in 2014 with the NDCS County Jail Initiative. From there, she joined the legal division as Word Processing Specialist II. To continue her growth and increase in knowledge, she promoted to Records Officer at the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln. A mother-son movie night was held at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) on July 16. Games started off the night followed by snacks, popcorn, and a movie. All of the sons that attended said they had a great time (and so did the moms of course!).Read more

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Teacher Diane Murphy leads a class at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). Murphy started as a contract teacher with Metro Community College (MCC) at TSCI in December 2001. In 2008 she became an NDCS teacher and taught at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) from 2011 to 2014 before returning to TSCI. Murphy teaches adult education, GED classes and coordinates the Destination Dad program. She is also an Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) facilitator and adjunct instructor for MCC in Employability Skills. #NDCSTeamMemberSpotlightRead more

Seven incarcerated individuals from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L), volunteered at the Lincoln Indian Center on July 14th, 21st and 22nd. The men helped to rebuild their Pow Wow area, which includes their stage and bench seating area.Read more

The Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) recently partnered with Christian Heritage to host a father-daughter dance. 14 fathers and 16 daughers attended the dance on July 23.Read more
