May 12, 2019 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – Jerry Hansen (82), #24432 died at 5:13 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). His sentence began on May 20, 1965. Hansen was serving a life sentence for second degree murder from Saunders County.

Cause of death has not been determined. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury will conduct an investigation....Read more

May 1, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb) -- Dominique Moody (27), #84387 was arrested by the Fugitive Task Force on April 30, 2019 at a residence in Lincoln, Neb.

Moody was placed on escape status from Community Corrections Center–Lincoln (CCC-L) on February 17, 2019. He is serving a six to nine year sentence for burglary. His parole eligibility date was scheduled in August 2019.

April 15, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb) – Whitney Hopkins (58), #88807, died shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Bryan Medical Center -- West. Hopkins was assigned to the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) and was moved to the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC) on April 10. He was taken by state vehicle to the hospital this morning due to a medical issue.
