CCCL staff member injured in assault

July 3, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate at the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L) assaulted a staff member on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, resulting in a serious* injury.

June 29, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L). Anthony Mattison #84578 left the facility shortly after 6:00 a.m. on June 29, 2019.

Mealtime switch reduces waste & saves money at NDCS facility

June 19, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) – A simple switch at mealtime has led to reduced waste and a savings of $7,000 a year at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC) in Lincoln. Diane Sabatka-Rine, chief of operations for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) said replacing Styrofoam cups with plastic tumblers has cut waste output by 50 percent.

Inmate Death at Lincoln Correctional Center

June 16, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Brindar Jangir (36), #6524, died on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC).

At approximately 2:30 a.m., staff members observed Jangir unresponsive in his cell from an apparent suicide attempt. Staff immediately began CPR and called for emergency responders. Jangir was pronounced dead at 3:05 a.m.

June 9, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC) assaulted a staff member on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., the inmate entered an office and assaulted the staff member, hitting her in the head and face, as well as choking her. Other inmates in the area assisted the staff member by calling for assistance on the radio. The inmate was secured and the staff member was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. May 24, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Milton Felder (51), #87921 died at 10:41 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). His sentence began on July 10, 2018. Felder was serving a 36- to 40-year sentence for manslaughter and possession of a deadly weapon by a felon in Douglas County.
