TSCI Excelorators Toastmaster club holds annual symposium

The Excelorators Toastmaster club of the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) recently held their annual symposium. Several outside guests were able to attend the symposium and members had a chance to compete in a speech contest. This club continues to thrive with a number of active participants.

The Excelorators club of TSCI belongs to Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. The Excelorators’ mission is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. Better communication skills help inmates deal not only with their peers but can also assist with speaking skills used for interviews as well as parole board meetings.
