November 11, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that four staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Three staff members are employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary. The fourth person is employed at the Central Office. All four staff members are self-isolating at home.

November 7, 2020 (Omaha, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O). Michael Terry #211243 was discovered missing from the facility shortly before 9:00 p.m. tonight.

Terry started serving his sentence on March 3, 2020. He is serving four years for two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) out of Douglas County. His tentative release date is August 14, 2021.

November 7, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – The death of an inmate at the Nebraska State Penitentiary is being investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). Kevin Carter #210819, age 20, was pronounced deceased shortly after 11:00 p.m. on November 6, 2020.

Staff members found Carter lying on the floor of the cell he shared at the penitentiary with another inmate. He had been covered with a sheet and was unresponsive. Staff...Read more

November 6, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) Scott R. Frakes announced that an inmate in his 60s died today at a hospital in Lincoln. The inmate tested positive for COVID-19 prior to entering the hospital. He also had multiple underlying health conditions.
