Nebraska bakery shows appreciation for NDCS teammates

November 26, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) – At a time of year when the focus is on giving thanks for things big and small, a Nebraska-based baking company is sharing its appreciation for the work performed by teammates at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). Members of the NDCS leadership team had the opportunity to facilitate delivery of the special pre-Thanksgiving donation, courtesy of the J. Skinner Baking Company in Omaha.

“Nebraskans are known for their generous and caring nature, yet the support shown to our agency continues to amaze me,” said NDCS Director Scott R. Frakes. “Corrections is a tough business, and the 2100 people who make up NDCS are working incredibly hard.  This gift lets them know that the community appreciates their contribution to public safety.”

Staff members from the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC) and nine members of the NDCS leadership team rallied at that facility before dawn to receive pallets of assorted pastry and divvy up the supply for delivery.

Fanning out to various offices and facilities, the team delivered 2400 packages of frosted rolls and Danish pastry to staff members in York, Lincoln and Omaha. Destinations included the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW), Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI), the Community Correctional Center – Omaha (CCC-O), the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) and other facilities. In addition, packages of rolls and pastry were provided to those at Cornhusker State Industries (CSI), the agency’s Staff Training Academy (STA) and other offices.

Speaking on behalf of J. Skinner, President and CEO Audie Keaton said the donation represents the support by his company of all of the workers associated with NDCS across the state.

“On behalf of all of the teammates within NDCS, our thanks is returned to Mr. Keaton and the entire team at J. Skinner,” added Director Frakes
