Facility Maintenance Specialist McVean works with the women at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women four nights a week teaching them construction classes and working on with them on various projects around the facility. “In the last four months, these ladies have accomplished a lot of work in maintenance,” said McVean.

The first large project they tackled was cleaning the barn. In less than a week, they organized it, cleaned both floors, built shelving units and carried out every piece of trash. They also removed and installed new vinyl composite tile flooring in the canteen, helped install carpet in administration, work on snow removal, and complete numerous work orders throughout the day.

“They are called out constantly and never complain about the late nights or early mornings. We want to extend our thanks for the work they do, and hope they continue their success outside of this facility,” said McVean.
