CJC continues to make positive impacts
Women at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) recently completed a restorative justice intervention course thanks to the Community Justice Center (CJC). Participants learned about victim impact and worked on taking responsibility for their actions.
“I appreciate it opening my eyes to seeing the damage I have done,” said one participant.
CJC is a restorative justice agency that has been teaching impactful restorative justice intervention within the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) facilities since 2001. The CJC team is made up of specialty trainers who assist incarcerated individuals to take responsibility and be accountable during and after their release.
Since the COVID-19 restrictions went into place, CJC has been working with NDCS to continue offering classes remotely and has recently resumed in-person classes following COVID recommendations.
“It was important for us to remain connected with those we serve, even in a physically-distanced environment, as we know the impact this class has on the lives of participants and how it contributes to safer communities inside and outside the correctional setting,” said CJC Executive Director Jim Jones.
