September 22, 2017 (Omaha, Neb.) – Today, Tre King, food service specialist at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC), was arrested on several charges related to contraband.

King, (23), had a personal cell phone in his possession inside the facility today. OCC staff had information to suggest King was involved in the introduction of contraband. Today, they interviewed him and found evidence to support his involvement.

“The introduction of contraband is a serious threat to the safety and security of our facilities,” said Director Scott R. Frakes. “The diligent work by the staff at OCC resulted in this employee’s arrest and thwarted his ability to introduce additional contraband.”

King, arrested by the NDCS investigator today, is being held in the Douglas County Department of Corrections on charges of Unauthorized Communication, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Obstructing Governmental Operations. King began employment with NDCS on June 12, 2017.

Frakes added, “Nebraskans can be confident that the team of dedicated professionals working in the state’s 10 prisons are not only aware of this issue, but are addressing it proactively.”
