Peru State College receives Partnership Award

The unique partnership formed between NDCS and Peru State College has the potential to change the paradigm for how potential leaders are identified in correctional systems and how their skills are developed.

Throughout the process of developing and initiating the Corrections Leadership Scholarship Program, the leadership at Peru and the State College system have been immensely supportive. This fall, they joined us at the annual awards ceremony to accept the NDCS Partnership Award. We have been fortunate to join forces with an institution of higher learning that is willing to think outside the box, take the leap and forge the path in helping Nebraska identify the next generation of correctional professionals.

Governor Ricketts has proclaimed this week as Apprenticeship Awareness Week in Nebraska to highlight the many ways apprenticeships are helping us build a world-class workforce in Nebraska. The Corrections Leadership Scholarship Program is a prime example of a customized program to grow our corrections workforce – and one that has involved the creative collaboration of many groups across the state to bring it to fruition.
