OCC inmate death

April 28, 2026 (Omaha, Neb.) – Greg Carlson #53083, age 69, died today at an Omaha hospital. He was incarcerated at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC). 

Carlson’s sentence began on November 1, 1999. He was serving a 60 year to life sentence out of Hall County for second degree murder. 

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, Carlson was being treated for a medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS), a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
