Eric Johnson speaks at NCCW on behalf of the Mid-America Speakers Bureau
Eric Johnson, Vice President of the Center for Enterprise at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Neb., and speaker with the Mid-America Speaker’s Bureau, presented a heartwarming message to incarcerated individuals at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) on Feb. 23.
Johnson’s message focused on priorities. He told the women listening that priorities are for your life what GPS is in a car: they chart the course to get us where we’re going. Priorities dictate how we spend our free time, the material we learn, the books we read and even the music we listen to. Where we focus our attention has a big influence on how we live our lives, he said.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Johnson shared his personal journey from being an alcoholic who put his job and wealth above everything else, until the birth of his two chronically ill children forced him to re-arrange his priorities. Johnson reminded the audience, “that’s the beauty of being human, we can always change, and it’s never too late to adjust our priorities.”
Johnson encouraged everyone to work each day at becoming the best versions of themselves and finished his presentation to a thunderous applause. An audience member stated that after hearing this she is going to take an honest look at what her priorities are and stop doing things that harm her or hinder her progress.
