November 9, 2017 (LINCOLN) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced the appointment of Taggart Boyd to serve as warden of the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center/Lincoln Correctional Center (DEC/LCC).  Boyd will join the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) on December 29, 2017.

Boyd currently serves as the deputy warden of operations at the privately operated North Central Correctional Complex, a minimum-medium security men’s prison in Marion, Ohio.

“I am pleased to add Taggart Boyd to the NDCS team,” said Director Frakes. “His experience in security and programming is an excellent fit for DEC/LCC. The new perspective based on his Ohio experiences will benefit the entire agency.”

Boyd began his corrections career in 1998 with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) as a correctional officer at the Marion Correctional Institution.  Since that time, he has held a variety of positions including case manager, unit manager, accreditation manager, inspector of institutional services and associate warden.

“NDCS has made transformational changes over the past few years and I am thrilled to be joining the team,” said Boyd. “I look forward to working with the DEC/LCC leadership team to assess operations and continue to provide a safe and secure environment.”

Boyd holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology from the Ohio State University. Through the American Correctional Association, Boyd is a Certified Corrections Executive, a certification for individuals at the highest executive level who oversee the development of policy and procedures in adult correctional agencies. Boyd and his wife have two children. He enjoys playing hockey and coaches a youth hockey team.

“I appreciate the leadership of Executive Management Officer Jeff Wooten and the entire team at LCC/DEC who have been steadfast in their dedication during this national search to fill the void left by the sudden passing of Fred Britten,” added Director Frakes.
