ADA/Accessibility
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services has a long history of commitment to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and has employed a dedicated ADA coordinator since 1994. The ADA coordinator manages all aspects of compliance for the following groups of people:
Applicants
- Accessible pre-employment testing and interview locations
- Reasonable accommodations during application, interviews and post-offer testing
Employees
- Accessible worksite
- Reasonable accommodations on the job and during training
- Utilization of FMLA leave concurrent with ADA accommodations
- Return to Work after injury or illness with temporary duty opportunities
Incarcerated Individuals
- Access to programs, services and activities
- Auxiliary aids for effective communication
Visitors
- Accessible facility visiting areas
- Auxiliary aids for effective communication
Volunteers
- Accessible facility event space
- Reasonable accommodations during training
