Walking across the stage and receiving their diplomas surrounded by family – it’s a moment these women will never forget. 

Ten women at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) graduated this month with an associate degree from York University. This group marked the second cohort to complete the Second Chance Educational Program, a partnership between York University and NCCW. The students completed two courses each trimester with York University instructors who set up classrooms at NCCW. 

This program is both a transformative experience and an incredible accomplishment for the graduates. Congratulations to these women, and thank you to York University staff, NDCS teammates and family and friends of the graduates who supported the students!
