NDCS facilities, Staff Training Academy and Central Office earn ACA re-accreditation
Congratulations to the Nebraska State Penitentiary, Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, Work Ethic Camp, Staff Training Academy and Central Office for earning re-accreditation from the American Correctional Association (ACA). NDCS representatives accepted re-accreditation certificates at the ACA Winter Conference this month.
The ACA is a private, non-profit, non-governmental trade association and accrediting body for the corrections industry, the oldest and largest such association in the world.
Accreditation is a system of verification that correctional agencies/facilities comply with the ACA's national standards. The accreditation process includes a series of reviews, evaluations, audits and hearings.
The standards created and refined by the ACA represent fundamental correctional practices that ensure staff and inmate safety and security; enhance staff morale; improve record maintenance and data management capabilities; assist in protecting the agency against litigation; and improve the function of the facility or agency at all levels. #KeepPeopleSafe
