NDCS Team Member earns Master's Degree through Tuition Assistance Program
Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) Religious Coordinator Mike Carr had a lifelong goal of earning a master’s degree, and his employment with NDCS helped him achieve this dream. This spring, Mike graduated with a master’s degree in Critical and Creative Thinking from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
“I am so grateful to the agency’s tuition assistance program,” said Carr. “The paperwork was easy to fill out and the support at all levels of NDCS encouraged me to complete my educational goals. The assistance, combined with UNO’s online graduate program, helped me achieve a lifelong desire of getting my master’s degree. Thank you NDCS and UNO for making this possible.”
Carr began his career with NDCS at TSCI in August 2009 as a recreation specialist. He was promoted to unit case manager in June 2014 and then became the religious coordinator in January 2017. He is also a member of the Staff Empowerment & Resiliency/Victim Education and Support (SERVES) team. Carr is an ordained pastor and leads a church in the Johnson area.
He encourages other team members to take advantage of the tuition assistance program to reach their educational goals and further their careers.
Congratulations on your achievement!
