February 19, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced he is seeking two mental health professionals to fill open positions in the agency’s Long Term Restrictive Housing Work Group. Each individual will be appointed by Governor Ricketts to serve a three year term.

Members of the group provide advice related to the policies and procedures surrounding the proper treatment and care of offenders in long-term restrictive housing. The group meets twice a year.

“Insight and involvement from community members provides an important contribution to the agency’s efforts to improve restrictive housing,” said Director Frakes.

To qualify for nomination, mental health professionals must work outside of NDCS, but also have knowledge of prisons and conditions related to confinement. Mental health professionals who are interested should complete the application for executive appointment, available on the governor’s website: https://governor.nebraska.gov/board-comm-req.
