January 23, 2017 (TECUMSEH) – Floyd Derry (78), inmate # 46237, died on January 21, 2017, at approximately 5:20 p.m. at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.

Mr. Derry had been incarcerated November 22, 1994, and was serving a sentence of 48 years to Life for 2nd degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony out of Deuel County.

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, Mr. Derry had been treated for long-term medical issues and is believed to be natural causes.

As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Department of Correctional Services, a Grand Jury will conduct an investigation.
